Voters to choose State Senator in District 11

(Oklahoma City) – Democratic voters will choose a new State Senator during a special election Tuesday in District 11.

State Senate District 11 includes 31 precincts in Tulsa County and four precincts in Osage County. No Republican or Independent candidates filed for the race, which means the winner of Tuesday’s Democratic Primary will take the seat.

The three candidates are Kevin Matthews, 55, Heather Nash, 43, and Regina Goodwin, 52, all of Tulsa. There will be no runoff. Oklahoma has a closed primary system, meaning only those registered as Democrats in the district will be allowed to vote.

Voters interested in seeing a sample ballot can use the Oklahoma State Election Board’s Online Voter Tool at www.elections.ok.gov. Sample ballots will only appear for those eligible to vote in the race. You can also use the tool to check your polling place and track the status of your absentee ballot.

In addition to the State Senator District 11 Special Election, local elections will be held Tuesday in some counties, municipalities and school districts. For a full list of races on the ballot, visit www.elections.ok.gov, and select Upcoming Local Elections under the Election Info tab.

Polls are open statewide from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
