Voter registration deadline for General Election approaches, still time to request absentee ballot

(Oklahoma City) – This is the last week you can register if you want to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election.

Friday, Oct. 10 is the deadline to register for the election, which will feature a variety of state and federal offices as well as many local elections, Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said.

Voter registration forms can be downloaded from the Oklahoma State Election Board’s website at http://elections.ok.gov. They are also available at county election boards, post offices, tag agencies, libraries and some other public locations.

Voters must either register in person or mail their registration forms in and have them postmarked before the deadline.

Voters can also request an absentee ballot and vote by mail in the General Election. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 29.

Ziriax said voting by mail is a good way for voters in busy precincts to avoid lines on Election Day. For more information about voting by mail or to download an absentee ballot request form, visit the election board’s website and click on the “Skip the Line, Vote by Mail” logo.
