Math Achievement and Proficiency Act

The amendments made to the Oklahoma Math Achievement and Proficiency Act delay the implementation of these policy requirements to the 2027-2028 academic year.

The Oklahoma Math Achievement and Proficiency Act establishes a requirement for all students in grades 2–5 to participate in universal math screenings at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year. If screening indicates that students are struggling with any specific math skills, then that student will need to receive interventions and an intervention plan. Students who are working at advanced levels in mathematics will need to receive access to learning opportunities that meet their needs.

Explore the Implementation Guide for the Oklahoma Math Achievement and Proficiency Act, a resource designed to help Oklahoma school districts meet legislative requirements and strengthen math instruction. At the end of the Implementation Guide, additional supporting documents are provided to address the needs of school administrators and educators. These resources help ensure all requirements are fully met. They are also included below, with fillable versions available where appropriate.

Math Proficiency Monthly Updates

The Oklahoma State Department of Education will begin offering online learning sessions to support implementation of these requirements. School district administrators, site administrators, and educators who will be supporting this work are invited. These sessions will provide guidance, highlight key expectations, and offer opportunities for questions as districts prepare for implementation.

Access the Math Proficiency Agenda, which will be updated to reflect the learning for each monthly meeting.

Math Screeners Meeting Criteria

The screeners listed below met minimum established criteria to be considered valid and reliable screening instruments and were approved by the State Board of Education on November 20, 2025. Although the selection and implementation of a valid and reliable universal math screener is no longer required in the 2026-2027 academic year, the indicated screeners below provide valid and reliable student achievement data that may be used to inform instruction, intervention, and access to advanced learning opportunities for a student to continue growing academically.
