The launch of OMMA’s new licensing portal is delayed until Jan. 24 after discovering a data migration issue on Monday, Jan. 17.
OMMA is unable to accept license and renewal applications until the new portal launches Jan. 24.
Patient and business licenses with an expiration date between Jan. 10-24 are considered valid through Jan. 31. OMMA will waive the late fee for business licenses expiring Jan. 10-24, as long as the renewal application is submitted by Jan. 31.
The delay is because of a data migration problem OMMA discovered Monday, a day before the new portal was set to launch.
Information for patients
All active, valid patient licenses are not affected by the portal launch delay.
If a patient or caregiver license expires Jan. 10-24, it will be considered valid through Jan. 31. We are working with OMES to install an alert banner at the top of the OMMA Verify verification website to confirm this for dispensaries, law enforcement and anyone else attempting to confirm license data.
We will honor signed physician recommendation forms that were set to expire between Jan. 10 and Jan. 24 as long as an application is submitted by Monday, Jan. 31.
If patients or caregivers completed and submitted a new license application or renewal before Jan. 10, we will review it beginning Jan. 24. If they started but did not finish an application before Jan. 10, they will need to start over beginning Jan. 24.
If a patient or caregiver needs to apply for a new or renewed license, they come back starting Jan. 24 to begin their application. Renewal apps can be submitted up to 30 days before the license expiration.
Active patients should get an email by Jan. 25. from no-reply@omes.ok.gov with login information for the new portal. If they do not receive the email, they can contact us at 405-522-6662 or email OMMAPatients@ok.gov to update their contact information.
Information for businesses
All active, valid business licenses are not affected by the portal launch delay.
If a commercial license expires Jan. 10-24, it will be considered valid through Jan. 31. OMMA will waive the $500 late fee as long as they submit a renewal application in the new portal by Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
If a business completed and submitted a new license application or renewal before Jan. 10, we will review it beginning Jan. 24. If they started an application but did not finish it before Jan. 10, they will need to start over beginning Jan. 24.
If a business needs to apply for a new or renewed license, they can do so starting Jan. 24. Businesses that are currently licensed can apply for a renewed business license beginning 60 days before the expiration date.
About the delay
On Monday, Jan. 17, OMMA staff discovered an issue with the licensing data that was transferred.
The OMMA determined that delaying the launch a week would allow the complete data set to migrate to the new portal. Launching the new portal with an incomplete data set would have required taking the system offline, which would have prolongied the delay.
