The Office of Minority Health was activated in 1994 by authority of the Oklahoma State Board of Health. The office was created, primarily, to address the disproportionally poor health of Oklahoma’s racial and ethnic minority populations. In 2018, the office expanded its scope of service to further address the social determinants of health, increase access to healthcare and promote health equity. A name change was also implemented – Office of Minority Health & Health Equity. With a broader mission, new goals and guiding principles, the OSDH Office of Minority Health & Health Equity is committed to working with agency, local, state and national partners to ensure that all Oklahomans have the opportunity to attain the best possible health – “health for all”.
