Prevention and Intervention
What are School-Based Prevention Services?
School-based prevention services are evidence-based programs, policies, and practices implemented with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to build protective aspects against identified risk factors.
Healthy students are better learners, and academic achievement bears a lifetime of benefits for health. Youth risk behaviors are consistently linked to poor grades, test scores, and lower educational attainment*. The Office of Prevention Services works with state partners and LEAs to offer supports and to implement programs that help mitigate these behaviors.
