Renew or Replace your Driver License or State ID Card.
If you already have an Oklahoma Driver License or State Identification Card, you can renew or replace it online or in person at a Licensed Operator, or Service Oklahoma Licensing Office.
Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant Driver License or ID card, or a valid federal identification document (i.e. U.S. Passport) will be required for you to fly within the U.S. or visit a federal facility.
You can change your address online by requesting a 'Replacement' Driver License or State ID and have a new credential mailed to you.
You cannot make name changes online. For name changes, or any additional changes, you can visit a Licensed Operator or Licensing Office to request a duplicate and have a new credential mailed to you.
You can renew your license up to a year in advance. Your renewed license will become active the day following your original expiration date. We recommend renewing your license at least 60 days before the expiration date.
No, there is no temporary license issued when applying for a Driver License online. It is recommended that you print off the confirmation email you received when you applied and carry that along with your expired ID.
To surrender your Driver License for a State ID card in Oklahoma, visit a Licensed Operator or a Service Oklahoma Licensing Office. Bring your current driver's license as your primary form of identification.
At the office, inform the staff that you wish to surrender your license and obtain a state ID. You will need to:
Surrender your current Driver License
Sign a Voluntary Downgrade Form
Complete the process to obtain a State ID Card
A replacement costs $25.
