If you already have an Oklahoma Driver License, you can renew or replace it online or in person at a Licensed Operator or a Service Oklahoma Licensing Office. Apply online in 10 minutes or less. Watch this Credential Renewal video to learn how. 
 
Please note, customers are permitted to hold only one primary credential. 
 


Options to Renew or Replace a Driver License


Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

You're a US citizen
You currently have a valid Oklahoma address

Your Driver License is not currently suspended
Your Oklahoma Driver License is valid and not expired

You are not adding a REAL ID credential to your License for the first time

Note

  • If your current Driver License already has the REAL ID credential, it will automatically be added to your License upon renewal. 
  • Visit a Service Oklahoma or Licensed Operator to upgrade your license to a REAL ID. Learn more about REAL ID here.

You're NOT eligible if:

  • Your driver license has been expired
  • You need to change your name or other personal information outside of your address
  • You do not have a valid Oklahoma address
  • Your license is suspended
  • You hold immigration documents (must be presented in person)
  • You are a first-time REAL ID applicant


How to Start


To start your online renewal/replacement, you will need to have the following readily available:

 
  • Driver License - If you don't have the credential you are applying to renew, please come in person
  • Debit or credit card
  • Social Security number
  • Driver license number
  • Change of address - One proof of residency document required if changing you address
  • Name change - If you are seeking to change your name, please come in person
  • Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course (if applicable) - If you would like to add a motorcycle endorsement for the first time

Options for alternate mailing addresses are available. You should expect to receive your license within 30 days.



Eligibility

You must meet all of the following requirements:

Your license has not been expired for more than 3 years

You currently have a valid Oklahoma address


You're NOT eligible if:

Your license has been expired for more than 3 years

If your license has been expired for more than 3 years, you will need to retest and apply for a new Oklahoma Driver License.

Your Driver License is currently suspended

How to Start


Bring the following documents to your appointment:

  • One Proof of Identity - click here for a list of acceptable documents.
  • Social Security Number - Physical card is not required.
  • Proof of Oklahoma Residency - To update the address on your credential, bring an acceptable proof of residency document. For a first time REAL ID, bring two (2) proofs.
  • Name Change Document (if applicable) - If the name to be entered on the Oklahoma License is different from the name on the Proof of Identity, you must bring in a document showing a legal name change.
  • Immigration or Legal Presence Documents (if applicable) - Non-citizens must show proof of documentation for each renewal or replacement. Visit the Required Documents page for more information.

4-year credential option

  • Renewal: $38.50
  • Replace: $25.00

8-year credential option

  • Renewal: $77.00
  • Replace: $25.00

Adding a motorcycle endorsment for the first time will add a $4 application fee to the above prices.

Are You REAL ID Ready?

A REAL ID compliant Driver License or ID card, or a valid federal identification document (i.e. US Passport) is required for you to fly within the U.S. or visit a federal facility.

You can renew your license up to a year in advance. We recommend renewing your license at least 60 days before the expiration date.

Please allow at least 30 days for delivery, as mailing times may vary.

 

NOTE: If you have recently moved locations or have changed your inbound mailing address to a PO Box, please contact your local United States Postal Service to update your postal address.

 

If you have not received your ID within 30 days, please reach out by calling us at (405) 522-7000 and have the following information readily available:

  • First and Last name

  • Date of Birth of the applicant

  • License/ID number

  • For online applications, Submit ID

Yes, there is a temporary license issued when applying for a Driver License Replacement or Renewal online. It is recommended that you print out the temporary credential you received when your application was approved and carry that along with your expired credential (if applicable).

You cannot use a PO box as the address for your residence which appears on the Driver License/ID.

Note: The only exception to this regulation is if you are an Address Confidentiality Program participant.

Yes, if your online renewal or replacement has been denied or cancelled, you will receive a refund for the credential fee, less the credit card processing fee.
