Interested families will first complete a short parentPRO assessment with a Parent Engagement Specialist or on parentPRO.org. If home visiting is a good fit for a family, a referral is made to a local home-visiting program or if home visiting is not a good fit, other community resources are provided to help meet the needs of the family.
parentPRO
ParentPRO opens the door to home visiting for Oklahoma! We connect those who are pregnant for the first time and parents, with children from birth to five years, with local home visiting programs based on family needs and program requirements. All services are started on a voluntary basis. To help remove some of the mystery, we’ve put together this short document on the process.
Once the referral is received by a local home visiting program, a representative from that agency will reach out by telephone to introduce themselves and schedule the first visit. They will provide an overview of the program and other information that may be valuable.
The family will meet with their assigned home visitor and begin working through the program curriculum. The length of the service depends on the program, so be sure to ask your home visitor.
After the family has successfully completed the home visiting program, they will be provided with additional resources that will help continue to support the family’s success.
