Clean Vessel Act Grant

The Clean Vessel Act grant program was established under the federal 1992 Clean Vessel Act to provide funding for pump-out stations and waste reception facilities so that raw sewage from recreational boaters and marinas is not discharged into waterways.

Oklahoma partners with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to administer the Clean Vessel Act Grant (CVA).  Through this grant, Oklahoma marinas provide wastewater pump-out services to Oklahoman’s enjoying our wonderful water resources.  The equipment and facilities constructed via the CVA offer easily accessible locations for boaters with marine holding tanks to service their boats.  Striving to keep Oklahoma beautiful through environmentally sound services, this grant offers marina owners financial assistance for projects such as pump-out stations, dump stations or holding tanks, and pump-out boats.

Funding for the CVA grant is provided annually from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund.  Monies deposited into the Trust are derived from excise taxes on fishing equipment, motorboat and small engine fuels, import duties, and interest on the fund.  Applicants seeking approval of projects under the CVA are required to provide at least 25% of the project’s total cost.
