OKLAHOMA CITY – Service Oklahoma is reminding boat owners across the State that boat registrations and renewals must be completed by July 1st.  

Additionally, all motorized boats that renew their registration will receive a carbon monoxide poisoning warning decal to be displayed on the boat along with an informational pamphlet. In accordance with OK HB2010 (2023) also know as “Andy's Law,” boat owners will receive a carbon monoxide poisoning warning decal on their first renewal after Nov. 1, 2023. 

Andy’s Law, OK HB2010 (2023): 
House Rep. Dean Davis in District 98 and Sen. Chuck Hall of District 20 co-authored OK HB2010 to warn against the dangers of open-air carbon monoxide poisoning. The bill was passed by the House and Senate, then signed into law by Governor Kevin Stitt with the effective date of Nov. 1, 2023. July 1st is the annual boat registration renewal deadline, making this the first time since the bill went into effect for many motorized water vessels to display the carbon monoxide poisoning warning decal in plain view.

All boats with motors, motorized vessels and outboard motors with an excess of 10 horsepower require title and registration. Oklahomans have the choice of registering their boat for one-year or three-years at a time. 

Service Oklahoma is committed to ensuring seamless operations and facilitating compliance for all motorized watercraft owners in the Sooner State and has made it easy to register a boat and receive the carbon monoxide poisoning warning decal.  

Boat owners can register and renew their boats at their local licensed operator location or have the option of renewing online at service.ok.gov. For any online boat registration renewals, a carbon monoxide poison warning decal will be sent in the mail. • 73,970 boats registered for one-year in 2023.  
• 44,076 boats registered for three-years in 2023.  
• OK HB2010 requires motorized boats and outboard motor vessels to have a carbon monoxide warning decal in plain view on the interior of the vessel.  
• Boat owners must carry the current registration in the boat while in operation.  
• Boats and outboard motors must be registered separately.
