A.G. Opinion 2026-17

Thursday, October 22, 2026

An Opinion addressing whether the Statewide Charter School Board may reconsider, rescind, or vote again after rejecting a revised application to establish a charter school. The Opinion concludes that it may not. The Board has only the powers the Legislature has granted it. The Oklahoma Charter Schools Act sets out a closed, two-step process: the Board accepts or rejects an application, then accepts or rejects one timely revised application. The Act provides for no further vote, rehearing, reconsideration, or rescission.
