Drummond, Mulready announce $2.1 million in settlement funds coming to Oklahoma pharmacies
OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 30, 2026) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready today announced that more than $2.1 million will be distributed to Oklahoma pharmacies as part of a joint effort to protect pharmacies and ensure pharmacy benefit managers comply with state law. The funds come from a settlement with CVS Caremark.
“Pharmacies are essential to the health and well-being of Oklahoma communities, particularly in rural areas,” Drummond said. “My office is committed to getting these funds to the pharmacies that were improperly charged, and we will continue holding PBMs accountable when they violate Oklahoma law. I appreciate the Insurance Department’s cooperation in this effort.”
The Oklahoma Insurance Department reached the settlement with CVS Caremark in 2022 over allegations that the company improperly assessed transaction fees against pharmacies in violation of state law. The $2.1 million represents fines secured through the settlement. Restitution for the transaction fees themselves has already been distributed to affected pharmacies.
“Protecting Oklahoma pharmacies has been a priority for both of our offices,” Mulready said. “We appreciate Attorney General Drummond and his team’s partnership in bringing this matter across the finish line. This collaboration ensures that the work undertaken by the Insurance Department results in meaningful relief for pharmacies across our state.”
The Attorney General’s Office will oversee distribution of the funds to more than 900 eligible pharmacies. Each affected pharmacy will be contacted using information provided by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. The office will work directly with pharmacies to complete the necessary paperwork and facilitate payment.
This is the third settlement with CVS Caremark, with over $7 million being returned to Oklahoma pharmacies.
