Drummond praises Trump's signing of Secure America Act following multistate push

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 10, 2026) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond today praised President Trump for signing the Secure America Act into law, which delivers sustained funding for U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The signing came after Drummond and a coalition of 21 attorneys general sent a letter earlier this week to U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune urging immediate passage of the legislation.

"This is exactly the outcome we pushed for, and President Trump delivered," Drummond said. "Oklahoma law enforcement depends on strong federal partners to keep our communities safe, and now Customs and Border Protection and ICE have the resources they need to finish the job."

In their letter, the attorneys general warned that congressional inaction was putting public safety at risk.

"Senate Democrats have spent months blocking funding for these vital agencies, treating the men and women who risk their lives every day as political bargaining chips," the letter states. "By withholding these resources, Senate Democrats are undermining a core federal duty and jeopardizing public safety nationwide."

Oklahoma is among the states with active 287(g) agreements with ICE. The agreement allows trained officers to carry out federal immigration enforcement duties. Adequate federal funding for ICE is therefore a direct public safety concern for Oklahoma communities.
