OKLAHOMA CITY (July 9, 2026) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond is reminding law enforcement agencies across Oklahoma that the deadline to submit nominations for the 2026 Officer of the Year Awards is Thursday, July 30.
Only law enforcement agencies are eligible to submit official nominations, but Drummond encourages members of the public to reach out to their local agencies if there are officers they want to recommend for consideration.
“Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line each day to protect our local communities,” Drummond said. “The Officer of the Year Awards are an opportunity to give well-deserved recognition to those who exemplify the very best of the policing profession. I encourage individuals to contact their local law enforcement agencies about officers who deserve to be recognized for their exceptional commitment to keeping Oklahomans safe.”
Officers from college, university, municipal, county, state, tribal and federal agencies are eligible to be nominated for performing admirably in the line of duty during the last 18 months. Four regional winners and a statewide winner will be selected. This is the third year for the awards. A new addition this year is a category for K-9 nominations.
Law enforcement officers can nominate deserving officers on the Officer of the Year webpage until July 30.
Nominations are also being accepted for the Lethality Assessment Protocol (LAP) Officer of the Year Award, honoring trauma-informed use of the LAP screening tool in domestic violence cases. LAP award nominations can be submitted via an online form through July 30.
