OKLAHOMA CITY (June 12, 2025) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond made the following statement today after the execution of convicted murderer George John Hanson.
"Today, justice was finally served for Mary Bowles and Jerald Thurman. After more than 25 years of waiting, the killer who brutally took these two precious lives has paid the ultimate price for his heinous crime,” Drummond said. “This case demonstrates that no matter how long it takes, Oklahoma will hold murderers accountable for their crimes."
Hanson and an accomplice kidnapped and killed 77-year-old Bowles in 1999. Moments before her death, they also gunned down Thurman, who was an innocent bystander.
Hanson was transferred in March from a Louisiana federal prison to Oklahoma after Attorney General Drummond requested the transfer, which had previously been blocked by the Biden Administration.
