Drummond asks President Trump to secure border, carry out immigration policies

Wednesday, January 08, 2025

Attorney General Gentner Drummond and a coalition of 20 state attorneys general sent a joint statement of support today to the soon-to-be Trump Administration asking the president-elect to carry out his immigration policies to secure the border and stop the Biden immigration policies that caused a historic surge of illegal immigration.

“I look forward to seeing President Trump restore the rule of law in our country by securing the border and stopping the surge of illegal immigration that has resulted from the disastrous policies of the Biden Administration,” Drummond said. “Returning to President Trump’s immigration policies will create a safer Oklahoma and put our country back on track.”

Republican attorneys general across the U.S. took the Biden Administration to court to stop some of his lawless immigration executive orders. They prevailed in virtually every one of those lawsuits. Most recently for instance, a coalition of the attorneys general won a federal district court injunction to stop the Biden Administration from providing Affordable Care Act benefits to illegal aliens.

The letter notes that Trump’s policies during his first term resulted in record-low illegal immigration. The Republican AG coalition looks forward to Trump reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy, ending the abuse of immigration parole.

“We will work with President Trump to secure the border, end failed Biden Administration immigration policies and effect the largest deportation in U.S. history,” Drummond and the coalition said in the letter. “We will stand with President Trump as he makes America safe again.”

Also signing the letter were the attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia.
