May: Halting the march of radical Islam

Friday, May 30, 2025

It is impossible these days to avoid images of radical Islamic terrorists and their “civilian” enablers shouting slogans of hatred and vows of death to America, Israel, Jews and Christians – the most recent example being the senseless execution of two Israeli embassy workers by a pro-Palestinian gunman. To these terrorists, we are the “non-believers,” and our punishment is torture and death.

This cancerous ideology is no longer confined to the Middle East. Thanks to open-border immigration policies in Europe and nonexistent border security under previous U.S. presidents, these radical terrorists and their sympathizers have metastasized throughout Western civilization.

Well-meaning but naïve politicians of both political parties have invited Muslim refugees to “resettle” in America. They come to our country for the freedom and prosperity we offer, but many do not wish to assimilate. Instead, they often form their own communities and take advantage of free and open elections to elevate leftist politicians who share their anti-American sentiments.

A prime example of this is Ilan Omar, a Democrat congresswoman from Minnesota. Omar and her family fled the death and destruction of Somalia in the early 1990s. The Clinton Administration allowed them to settle in America.

One would think Rep. Omar would be deeply thankful to this nation for saving her family from that hellhole. Quite the opposite. Omar is one of the most radical anti-American activists in the country. She once dismissed the terrorist attacks of 9/11 by saying, “some people did something…”

Down in Texas, Gov. Abbot has ordered an investigation into the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) and its affiliated entities, including the proposed EPIC City Project. President Trump’s Department of Justice is also investigating. The probes are in response to leaders of the proposed “Muslim city” claiming it would be an Islamic-only community operating under radical Sharia law.

Here in Oklahoma, our own Governor partnered with the Biden Administration to “resettle” thousands of Afghan “refugees.” Congressional Republican leaders opposed the resettlement due to the extreme lack of vetting conducted by Biden-Harris bureaucrats. Gov. Stitt ignored these warnings and opted to trust President Biden’s assurances that no extremists would be brought to America.

This turned out to be terrible judgement on the Governor’s part. Just a few months ago, authorities arrested one of these Afghan refugees for plotting a mass shooting at polling places in Oklahoma. I thank God for our law enforcement officers who prevented what would have been a tragic terrorist attack – and I condemn Gov. Stitt for making that same terrorist attack possible by welcoming those who would harm us.

Unfortunately, that is not the only example of Gov. Stitt’s poor judgment benefitting radicalized Muslims. For the past year, Gov. Stitt has been fighting to force our state to directly fund any and all religious public schools, even those that would teach Sharia law. Even those that call themselves The Church of Satan.

The Governor, of course, focuses his remarks on providing funding for a specific Catholic school that he supports, but the law does not allow the government to choose between religions. We would be forced to fund them all.

Thankfully, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed my position, and there will be no taxpayer funding of radical Islamic schools anytime soon. This is a tremendous victory for religious freedom – and for public safety.

Radical Islam poses a serious threat to public safety here in Oklahoma, and it is an existential threat to our country. We must remain ready to fight against those who spew hatred of America and our Judeo-Christian values.

It is an honor to serve as your Attorney General. I will continue doing everything in my power to protect our families, defend our liberty and uphold the rule of law.
