2025 Oklahoma Book Awards: Celebrating Notable Books + Authors

Submit Your Work for the 37th Annual Oklahoma Book Awards

Authors, poets, illustrators, photographers, and book designers with an Oklahoma connection are invited to enter the 37th Annual Oklahoma Book Awards. Eligible titles must be published in 2025 and either feature Oklahoma or be created by someone who lives—or has lived—in the state.

Entries open October 15, 2025, and close January 7, 2026. Each submission requires an entry form, six copies of the book, and a $25 fee per category.

The awards are presented by the Oklahoma Center for the Book, which celebrates and promotes Oklahoma’s rich literary heritage.

Eligibility

Any individual, organization, or company may submit an entry in one or more categories. Books must have an Oklahoma-based theme, or the entrant (author, illustrator, photographer, or book designer) must live or have lived in Oklahoma. Eligible titles are those published between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Hardcover and paperback works are accepted, but books entered in previous Oklahoma Book Award competitions are not eligible. All entries must be received by the deadline to be considered. Important Dates

The call for entries opens on October 15, 2025, and the deadline for submissions is January 7, 2026. Finalists will be announced in Spring 2026, and the Awards Ceremony will also take place later that spring.

The Oklahoma Center for the Book (OCB) has partnered with the non-profit Friends of the Oklahoma Center for the Book for more than 30 years to co-sponsor the annual Oklahoma Book Awards.

The OCB, located in the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, is affiliated with the National Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. 

The Center’s mission is to promote Oklahoma authors, celebrate the state’s literary heritage, encourage reading for pleasure by Oklahomans.
