2025 Oklahoma Book Awards

The Oklahoma Book Awards are back, and we’re excited to announce that the call for entries is now open! If you’re an author, poet, illustrator, photographer, or book designer with a connection to Oklahoma or a story rooted in the state, this is your opportunity to submit your work for this prestigious award.

Award categories:

  • Fiction
  • Non-Fiction
  • Children/Young Adult
  • Book Design/Illustration or Photography
  • Poetry

Eligibility criteria:

  • Any individual, organization, or company may enter in any appropriate category.
  • Books considered for this award must have an Oklahoma-based theme, or entrants (authors, illustrators, photographers, or book designers) must live or have lived in Oklahoma.
  • Books must have been published originally between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
  • Books—hardcover or paperback—entered in previous Oklahoma Book Award competitions are not eligible.
  • Entries are forwarded to judges upon receipt—please enter as soon as possible.

Deadline for entries is January 8, 2025. Finalists will be notified in March 2025. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in April 2025.


The Oklahoma Center for the Book (OCB) has partnered with the non-profit Friends of the Oklahoma Center for the Book for more than 30 years to co-sponsor the annual Oklahoma Book Awards.

The OCB, located in the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, is affiliated with the National Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. 

The Center’s mission is to: promote Oklahoma authors, celebrate the state’s literary heritage, encourage reading for pleasure by Oklahomans.
