Color Our World - 2025 Theme

2025 Summer Reading

The 2025 Summer Reading Program, Color Our World, is all about celebrating creativity, imagination, and the arts. This year’s theme invites readers of all ages to explore the colorful world around them through books, hands-on activities, and engaging library programs. Libraries across Oklahoma will offer everything from craft projects and interactive workshops to reading challenges with fun prizes.

It’s the perfect time to get inspired, try something new, and let your creativity shine. Stop by your local library to be part of the adventure—and see how reading can brighten your summer!

Local libraries utilize materials and program ideas developed by the Collaborative Summer Library Program to engage thousands of Oklahoma children in reading and learning throughout their summer vacation. The Oklahoma Department of Libraries’ Youth Services Department plays a key role in distributing these materials to libraries across the state, supporting their efforts to keep young minds active and learning all summer long.

Oklahoma’s Statewide Summer Reading Program is sponsored by local libraries, community partners, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Free Admission to the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens!

ODL and local libraries are once again partnering with the OKC Zoo and OG&E for the Read for Adventure summer reading promotion. When a family checks out the book Juniper’s Butterfly Garden, they’ll receive a voucher good for FREE admission to the Oklahoma City Zoo for four people—children, adults, or seniors.

Check to see if your library is participating!
