Read Across Oklahoma, the beloved preschool and early-grade literacy event, was held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. Attendees received over 1,500 free children's books!

If you missed the event, you can still join in the fun with virtual activities! Your students and young readers will enjoy watching this year's special Read Across Oklahoma video featuring author/illustrator Kylan Mogg. Join him as he reads his unforgetful book, The Forgetful Elephant. You will also meet some of Oklahoma City Zoo's favorite animals and their habitats. Thanks to our community partners, more fun animal-related books are presented as well. Check out the video below!

Read Across Oklahoma is part of the statewide My First Library program coordinated by ODL, an early literacy initiative that helps develop literacy skills and promotes family reading. During a regular school year, the program distributes 1,900 books each month to early learning classrooms.
