American Library Association

The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world. Founded on October 6, 1876 during the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, the mission of ALA is “to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.”

Freedom of Information (FOI)

Promoting openness in government. FOI Oklahoma is a statewide organization actively supporting those organizations and individuals working to open records or provide access to meetings illegally closed.

Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma (FOLIO)

The mission of FOLIO is to strengthen libraries in Oklahoma through Friends of Libraries. FOLIO proudly invests in the development of nationally recognized Literary Landmarks. FOLIO has worked with community leaders to dedicate Literary Landmarks in Oklahoma since 2001.

Friends of Oklahoma Center for the Book

Friends of OCB is a non-profit organization that advises the Oklahoma Center for the Book and for over twenty years has sponsored the Oklahoma Book Awards.

Institute of Museum and Library Services

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums.

Oklahoma Center for the Book

The Oklahoma Center for the Book (OCB) is a state affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, and is organized to focus attention on the vital role of books and reading in our lives. The Center promotes the past, current, and future works of Oklahoma authors; promotes the literary heritage of the state; and encourages reading for pleasure by Oklahomans of all ages.

Oklahoma Library Association

The Oklahoma Library Association (OLA) works to strengthen the quality of libraries, library services and librarianship in Oklahoma. OLA is dedicated to keeping its members at the cutting edge of their profession with numerous opportunities for continuing education.

Oklahoma Literacy Coalition

OLC champions the ongoing development of adult literacy services by providing tools for student empowerment, tutor recognition, networking opportunities, education for literacy leaders, and advocacy for a more literate Oklahoma.
