WIC PLUS

The WIC PLUS program integrates children’s developmental and educational services into County Health Department WIC clinics. A Child Development Specialist (CDS) and WIC nurse partner together to provide more complete care for families.

Child Development Specialists in the WIC clinic help to provide a strong foundation for children by promoting early literacy skills, helping to increase protective factors, connecting parents to community resources, and educating parents on appropriate developmental skills.

WIC PLUS provides services to families with children birth through age 5 years.

Any family participating in the WIC program can enroll in WIC PLUS. All children enrolled in WIC PLUS will receive a new book at each visit through the REACH OUT and READ Program to promote early literacy skills.
