Naloxone
What is Naloxone?
Naloxone (brand name Narcan and Evzio) is a medication that reverses opioid overdoses, including heroin, fentanyl, and illicit opioids. Naloxone is safe and effective, and has no effect on non-opioid overdoses.
Emergency Medical Personnel Naloxone Distribution and Training
Intranasal naloxone training is available online for volunteer fire departments, EMS agencies, and EMRAs. To complete this training, please watch the video below on Narcan nasal spray called, Training Video: How to Use, in its entirety. Once all agency emergency staff have completed the training, please complete and submit the appropriate memorandum of agreement to receive naloxone kits.
Naloxone for Law Enforcement
Training and free naloxone kits are available to law enforcement agencies through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. For more information on this program, please email overdose.prevention@odmhsas.org.
