Oklahoma Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness

In Oklahoma, the Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) program partners with the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Workgroup to address gaps in prevention efforts. This includes identifying programs focused on child sexual abuse prevention, healthy relationships and problematic sexual behavior in youth. The directory offers details on these resources, including how to access them and who they serve.

Summer brings new experiences and greater independence for children and teens, but it also increases the risks of child sexual abuse, especially in unsupervised settings, online spaces and new relationships.

Caregivers can help by having open, age-appropriate conversations about consent, boundaries and digital safety while creating a safe space for youth to share concerns without judgment.

Conversations like these with children can be tough for parents. Fortunately, the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth (NCSBY) offers valuable resources and support that can help children live safe and healthy lives. The Parents and Caregivers page on their website provides information for all ages, including resources for children affected by another child’s sexual behavior, and self-care tips for parents and caregivers.
