Aircraft Registration

As of July 1, 2024, Oklahomans must begin registering their private aircraft with Service Oklahoma. Oklahoma's aircraft registration process seamlessly ensures that all aircraft in the state and aircraft owners stay up-to-date with state requirements.

Note

Commercially owned aircraft are not required to be registered with Service Oklahoma.

Antique Aircraft

Must meet one of the following requirements:

A small U.S. registered aircraft (12,500 lbs. or less) built at least 30 years ago or a U.S. registered aircraft for which an experimental certificate has been issued.

Operated for the purpose of exhibition including a motion picture, television production or an airshow. 

Operated only at the location of the exhibition, between the exhibition locations, and between those locations and the base of operations of the aircraft except for practice and test flights necessary for exhibition purposes.

Gather all documents and fees

First-year registration is pro-rated monthly based on the month of purchase.

 

Note

All aircraft registrations in Oklahoma expire on December 31st. If not renewed by February 1st, a penalty of $0.20 per day will be charged until March 1st. After March 1st, the penalty will be equal to the registration fee.

Your fees will be finalized. Once payment is made and your documents are processed, you will be given your registration.




Frequently Asked Questions

An excise tax of three and one-fourth (3 1/4%) of the purchase price is levied on each aircraft to be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration upon the transfer of legal ownership or use of any such aircraft with the state of Oklahoma. The excise tax is due at the time of the transfer of legal ownership or first registration in Oklahoma. 
  • Excise Tax is 3 1/4% of purchase price.
  • Interest is 1 1/4% per month on tax from delinquent date.
  • Penalty is 10% of tax if not paid within 30 days from delinquent date.

Qualified antique aircraft have an annual registration fee of $10.00. Antique aircraft are not exempt from excise tax.
