Child Guidance

The purpose of the Child Guidance program is to promote optimal development, healthy behavior, and effective interactions in families with children. The Child Guidance Clinic in Woods County offers educational, diagnostic, and treatment services for children suspected of difficulties with development, behavior, speech, language, and hearing.

The Child Guidance Staff in Woods County...

  • Consults with schools, childcare providers, physicians, other service providers, and community groups interested in enhancing the well-being of children and families in Woods County.
  • Provides presentations for professionals and the general public on topics including parenting, healthy child development, behavior management and discipline, coping with divorce, and effective parent-child communication.
  • Provides clinical services: hearing screenings, speech screenings, psychological evaluations to identify attention or emotional problems, as well as behavioral treatments for individual children and their families.

Enrollment

Any family or group can seek information and referral services through the Child Guidance Clinic. Individual screening, evaluation, and therapy services are available to families with children age 12 years and under.

Fees Fees for services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on income and number of people in the family. A few services may be provided at no charge, regardless of income. Medicaid is accepted and third party payments may apply. Child Guidance services are covered under SoonerCare (Medicaid). Services are not denied due to inability to pay.
