Communicable Disease Investigation and Follow-up
To control communicable disease, our county health department, with the Oklahoma State Department of Health Acute Disease Services, provides surveillance for infectious diseases; investigation of disease outbreaks; analysis of data to plan, implement and evaluate disease prevention and control measures; dissemination of pertinent information; and education for the public and healthcare professionals.
Our Registered Nurses and Public Health Specialists are trained to investigate outbreaks as they occur. They partner with State Epidemiologists and local health providers to address community problems.
Some of these diseases include but are not limited to:
- food and water illness
- tuberculosis (click here for more information about TB and TB services)
- childhood diseases
