Demands Legal Clarity on Trump Executive Order

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Today, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued a formal call for Attorney General Gentner Drummond to fulfill his duty and provide a clear legal opinion on the impact of President Trump’s Executive Order 14218 on Oklahoma’s public schools. Walters first submitted his request on February 24th, 2025, seeking to ensure that Oklahoma’s education system is not adversely affected by federal actions.

Walters emphasized that Drummond’s refusal to provide an opinion undermines the stability and future of Oklahoma’s schools. As the chief legal officer of the state, the Attorney General has a responsibility to offer legal clarity on matters affecting state governance.

“Attorney General Drummond has a constitutional responsibility to provide legal clarity on federal actions impacting Oklahoma,” Walters stated. “His continued inaction directly obstructs President Trump’s executive order. Rather than delaying, he should be working to implement the policy that Oklahomans overwhelmingly support. Every day this delay continues, Oklahomans are left waiting for the leadership and direction they deserve.”

Walters urged Drummond to act swiftly and fulfill the duty he took an oath to uphold, ensuring Oklahoma’s schools are well-prepared and protected.
