Trump’s executive order is a historic victory for parents and students

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Today, Superintendent Ryan Walters praised President Trump’s executive order shutting down the U.S. Department of Education, declaring it a long-overdue victory for parental rights and local control.

“For too long, the federal government has weaponized education, using it to push radical, leftist ideology while stripping parents of their rights and directing funds to union bosses,” said Superintendent Walters. “President Trump’s executive order marks a pivotal moment in American history, the federal money grab ends today.”

Trump’s order returns education decision-making to states, parents, and local communities, ending decades of federal intervention. By eliminating bureaucratic control, it ensures that curriculum and academic standards are shaped by those directly invested in students’ success, rather than distant politicians and agencies.

“Oklahoma has led the fight against federal overreach, and we will continue to fight for parental rights,” Walters continued. “This is a pivotal moment for education freedom, and we have already begun planning for this order to ensure funds go back into the classrooms.”
