New group will help reward teacher excellence despite woke union agendas

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Today, Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) reaffirmed its commitment to rewarding high-performing educators through its ongoing merit pay efforts, which will be bolstered by a new hope with the formation of the Teacher Freedom Alliance (TFA). This organization will support initiatives like OSDE’s efforts to recognize and financially reward teachers who consistently excel in driving student achievement and fostering classroom success.

"Oklahoma's students deserve the very best educators, and those who go above and beyond should be rewarded for their dedication," said State Superintendent Ryan Walters. "For years, we've fought to implement a system that rewards great teachers, but the teachers' unions have blocked attempts to prioritize educators."

The TFA will bolster the success and implementation of the merit pay program. This initiative is part of OSDE’s broader effort to modernize the state's education system, promote accountability, and prioritize student success. By rewarding educators who make a measurable impact, OSDE reaffirms its commitment to ensuring every student has access to high-quality instruction.

“President Trump and Secretary McMahon have helped us shine a light on the counterproductive agenda of the Teachers’ Unions, the TFA marks a new ‘Golden Age’ in the fight to make education great again, added Walters.”
