OSDE Superintendent Urges Precautions Ahead of "Arctic Blast"
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK―Superintendent Ryan Walters today released a statement urging families to take precautions to ensure their students' safety ahead of extreme cold weather and school closures.
"Our prayers are with all Oklahoma families as extreme winter weather approaches. We want to remind everyone to take extra care in staying warm and safe," said Supt. Walters, "Some Oklahoma schools will transition to remote learning beginning Tuesday but we urge parents to follow all communications and guidance from their local schools.
IN THE EVENT YOUR DISTRICT/SCHOOL IS OPEN:
- Drive carefully and allow extra time for travel.
- Avoid leaving children at bus stops for extended periods of time in the cold.
- Make sure children's heads, ears, and hands are covered to protect them form the cold.
- Ensure they are dressed in layers for warmth and safety.
