Supt. Walters seeks to ensure elementary students taught principles of virtue and accurate context of the Bible throughout history
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), in partnership with the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking qualified suppliers to develop and deliver supplemental instructional materials that integrate biblical principles and character education into elementary social studies curricula.
"This initiative ensures that students gain a well-rounded understanding of the historical impact of biblical principles while reinforcing strong character development," said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters. "By providing high-quality instructional materials, we are equipping educators with valuable tools to help students build a strong foundation of virtue alongside their academic growth."
The selected materials will provide age-appropriate historical context on the Bible’s influence in shaping the nation while reinforcing core virtues such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and compassion.
