OSDE Launches Investigation Following Reports of Child Endangerment
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK ― Today, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) has confirmed that it is investigating a teacher, who also serves as a foster parent, after reports surfaced that a foster child was left outside in freezing temperatures.
"The safety and well-being of our students are our top priority," said State Superintendent Ryan Walters. "If an educator shows signs of abusive behavior or fails to ensure the safety of children, whether inside or outside the classroom, they have no place in our schools. OSDE is committed to taking swift and decisive action to protect Oklahoma students."
Upon learning that the individual involved was a teacher, OSDE immediately filed a report with Awareity and launched a comprehensive investigation. OSDE's investigation teams are conducting a thorough review of the teacher's actions. The Haskell Police Department and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) are also involved in the investigation.
