Quality Improvement and Evaluation Service (QIES)
QIES oversees activities and databases within the national QualityNet and iQIES Systems, created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Data is submitted to these systems from nursing homes, home health agencies, and hospitals with swing beds. Health care professionals use this data to create patient care plans and improve care quality. On a larger scale, researchers use it to study health care trends and guide future health programs. The data also supports reimbursement systems for Medicare and Medicaid across the United States.
QIES personnel are available to answer questions or concerns about the regulatory requirements of the MDS/OASIS processes, including the technical or clinical areas of the MDS/OASIS instruments and reports generated by the MDS/OASIS data.
