PVA's "Step Outside" program offers multiple sports and outdoors experiences. PVA also provides information on wheelchair accessible fishing and hunting facilities and publishes a calendar of sports/outdoor events.

The Mid-America PVA Chapter hosts Annual picnics, sporting events and other recreational activities for their members throughout the year. Visit Notification Procedure for Elderly and Handicapped Customers Website

Elderly and disabled electric and gas utility customers can advance notify a utility that they want special notification if disconnection of service is imminent. The procedure requires the utility to both call and send written notice to the Corporation Commission's Consumer Services Division five days before an elderly or handicapped customer's service will be cut off due to nonpayment. The Consumer Services Division can then request an additional five day delay before service is cut off.

The State Use Program is a self-supporting program that manages the contracts of vendors that provide employment for persons with disabilities. The employment opportunities reduce the need for state and federal funding (average of $2700 per individual).

This law was enacted to improve pedestrian travel safety for persons who are blind, visually impaired or those with other disabilities who use signal (for the deaf) or service (assistance) dogs. It requires drivers to come to a full stop no closer than 15 feet from a person with a disability who is in a roadway or crossing an intersection. The person must be using a white cane or dog guide. Violations of the law are misdemeanors punishable by a fine up to $100 and/or up to 3 months in jail.
