The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced that the boil order issued earlier this week for a portion of the Moore Public Water Supply, located in Cleveland County, has now been lifted. The water is now safe for human consumption.

The order to boil water was issued due to E. coli in the water. State and federal regulations require that customers be notified if, at any time, public drinking water is determined to be unsafe.

This order only applied to those customers of Moore PWS in the area east of Interstate 35, south of SE 4th St., north of Indian Hills Rd. and west of the Moore city limits. With this suspension, water from all portions of Moore PWS is safe for human consumption.

DEQ is responsible for regulating more than 1,250 public water supplies in the State of Oklahoma. All public water supplies are required to regularly submit samples to DEQ for routine testing to ensure that water is safe for human consumption.
