The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced that the boil order for Bartlesville Public Water Supply, located in Washington County, has been lifted. The water is now safe for human consumption.

The order to boil water was issued due to E. coli in the water. State and federal regulations require that customers be notified if, at any time, public drinking water is determined to be unsafe.

The following water systems purchase water from Bartlesville PWS, and therefore were also under the boil order:

  • Strike-Axe Hwy 60
  • Osage Co. RWD #1
  • Strikeaxe Airport
  • Strike Axe (Chimney Rock)
  • Dewey Public Works Authority
  • Washington Co. RWD #2
  • Bar-Dew Water Association Inc.
  • Le Ann Water
  • Ramona Public Works Authority
  • Washington Co. RWD #5
  • Ochelata Utility Authority
  • Washington Co. RWD #1
  • Nowata Co. RW & S Dist #1

DEQ is responsible for regulating more than 1,250 public water supplies in the State of Oklahoma. All public water supplies are required to regularly submit samples to DEQ for routine testing to ensure that water is safe for human consumption.
