Advisory Openings

Due to a vacancy on the Drug Dog Advisory Council, the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) is accept ing applications, letters of interest, and resumes from those individuals who wish to be considered as a college or university campus police department appointee to serve on the CLEET Drug Dog Advisory Council.

The responsibilities of Drug Dog Advisory Council members are found in 70 O.S., Β§3311, which states" ... make recommendations concerning minimum standards, educational needs, and other matters imperative to the certification of canines and can ine teams." The Drug Dog Advisory Council meets quarterly in Ada or Oklahoma City.

If you are a full-time commissioned officer employed employed by a college or university campus police department and are interested in serving on the Drug Dog Advisory Council, submit your resume and letter of interest to William Potts atΒ william.potts@cleet.state.ok.us. All information received will be forwarded to the Drug Dog Advisory Council for consideration and recommendation. The Drug Dog Advisory Council's recommendation(s) will be taken to the Council for final selection and appointment.

The current term forΒ a representative from a police department on the Drug Dog Advisory Council (DDAC) has ended, or will be ending in the near future, and applications are now being accepted to fill the vacancy. Individuals interested in serving on the DDAC are encouraged to submit an application, letter of interest, and a resume for consideration.Β Qualified applicants must be active, certified full-time peace officers who are currently employed by a campus, city, county, state or federal law enforcement agency. As required by 70 O.S., Β§3311, this particular position must be filled by a representative from a police department.Β 

According to 70 O.S., Β§3311, members of the DDAC are responsible for making recommendations on minimum standards, educational requirements, and other key matters related to the certifications of canines and canine teams.Β The DDAC meets at least once a year in Ada, but additional meetings may be held as business demands

If you are interested in serving as a representative from a police department on the DDAC, please submit the Drug Dog Advisory Council Application, a letter of interest, and a resume to CLEET, Attention: William Potts atΒ william.potts@cleet.state.ok.usΒ by 4:30pm November 27, 2025. All applications will be reviewed by the DDAC, which will select an applicant for nomination to serve.Β  The selected nominee will then be submitted to the Council for final approval.
