Sheriff Jim Mullett

  • Born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1968, Jim Mullett moved with his family to Garvin County, Oklahoma, in 1999, where he and his wife, Melissa, have been proud residents ever since. After graduating from Amphitheater High School, Jim studied Business Administration and Management at Pima Community College for four years. Jim and Melissa have been happily married since 1990 and are blessed with two sons, Jonathan and Anthony.
  • Anthony, a military veteran, now serves as a Lighthorse Police Officer, reflecting the family’s commitment to public service. Jim began his career with the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 as a Detention Deputy. A year later, he was promoted to Field Deputy and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Sergeant of Patrol in 2007 and Undersheriff in 2009. His experience across these roles has given him a deep understanding of the Sheriff’s Office and the critical skills required to ensure the safety and well-being of Garvin County citizens. A dedicated professional, Jim has completed over 1,900 hours of C.L.E.E.T. training and holds an Advanced Law Enforcement C.L.E.E.T. Certification.
  • In 2015, he graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy, became a member of the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association, and currently serves as Second Vice President. Additionally, he is a board member of C.L.E.E.T., certified through the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and FEMA as an Incident Commander.
  • Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim is deeply involved in his community. He has been a Karate Instructor with White Tiger Combat Karate, achieving a 3rd-degree Black Belt, a journey he started to bond with his youngest son.
  • Jim’s strong moral standards and faith inspire him to live a Godly and ethical life, principles he applies in his service as Sheriff. In 2019, Jim was appointed Sheriff of Garvin County and was later elected to the position in 2020.

In 2024, his dedication and leadership were affirmed when he went unopposed for reelection. With his extensive experience, commitment to ethics, and deep connection to the community, Sheriff Mullett remains devoted to protecting and serving the citizens of Garvin County with integrity and honor.
