Sheriff Andy Cumberledge

  • Andy Cumberledge is the 16th elected Sheriff of Love County, Oklahoma, a rural county with a population of just over 10,000 citizens. Love County spans 532 square miles and sits at Oklahoma’s southernmost border along I-35, adjoining Cooke County, Texas to the south; Marshall County to the east; Carter County to the north; and Jefferson County to the west.
  • A native of Love County, Sheriff Cumberledge is a graduate of Marietta High School. He holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Murray State College (2019) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (2022). While attending Southeastern, he pledged and was initiated into Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and is now a proud alumnus.
  • Sheriff Cumberledge began his law enforcement career in April 2016 as an unpaid Reserve Deputy for the Love County Sheriff’s Office. By August of that year, he had accepted a full-time Patrol Deputy position and graduated from CLEET in February 2017 as part of Academy Class A1605. He was promoted to Undersheriff in 2020 by the late Sheriff Marty Grisham. Following Sheriff Grisham’s unexpected passing in 2022, Sheriff Cumberledge was unanimously appointed by the Love County Board of Commissioners to fulfill the remainder of the term—approximately 2.5 years.
  • In June 2024, he won the primary election with 75% of the vote and, after facing no Democratic challenger, began his first full term as Love County Sheriff in January 2025.
  • Sheriff Cumberledge is a graduate of the 119th session of the National Sheriff’s Institute’s Leadership Development course and the 4th session of the FBI National Command Course. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification through CLEET, is a certified instructor, serves as one of the agency’s weapons armorers, and is certified to teach less-lethal munitions through ALS/Pacem Defense.
  • He also holds a Special Law Enforcement Commission (SLEC) through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, is cross-commissioned with the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and serves as a Task Force Officer for the FBI through the U.S. Marshals Service on the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Task Force.
  • For the past three years, Sheriff Cumberledge has represented the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association as a board member for the South-Central Region. He is honored to represent the Association on the CLEET Council, where he continues to be a strong advocate for professional training and small-county representation in statewide law enforcement development
