The Construction Industires Board signed a five year plumbing reciprocity agreement with the Arkansas Committee of Plumbing Examiners effective October 21, 2024. This is not automatic reciprocity. Plumbers who wish to be licensed under this reciprocity agreement must apply for a license in the state where they will work. Eligible applicants will not have to take the journeymen test to be licensed in either state.
Licenses granted under this agreement must comply with all other state-specific licensing requirements, including payment of licensing fees, completion of continuing education, maintenance of insurance, and other applicable conditions.
Licensed Arkansas plumbers may apply for an Oklahoma unlimited journeymen license pursuant to this agreement using this form.
Eligible Applicants must:
- have held their Arkansas/Oklahoma Plumbing license for at least one year.
- hold at least an unlimited plumbing journeymen license with Oklahoma or Arkansas. Applicants who hold a greater license class may apply if their license meets or exceeds the qualification requirements for the Journeyman license.
- have successfully passed a plumbing licensing examination sponsored by Arkansas or Oklahoma.
An applicant is not eligible for a license under this agreement if:
- the applicant’s journeyman plumber license has been revoked or is suspended and the applicant is not in good standing in the application state;
- the applicant has disciplinary action pending in the qualifying state or is not otherwise in good standing;
- the applicant has failed to renew his/her journeyman plumber license in the application state within the timeframe allowed by that state for renewal without being required to re-take the license examination; or
- within the past two years the applicant has performed plumbing work in the application state without obtaining required licensing.
