Miscellaneous Records, Forms & Services

In addition to executive and legislative records, the Secretary of State is also the record repository for several other miscelleaneous state records.  These include but are not limited to legally required oaths for certain state elected and appointed officials, Claim of Rights as Successor in Interest, First Assistant District Attorney Appointments, Judicial retention/declaration of candidacy letters (State Supreme Court and State Courts of Appeal only), and Court on the Judiciary member appointments.

Oaths - State Elected or Appointed Officials

The Oklahoma Secretary of State office only accepts and files, for the record, Oaths of Office and Loyalty Oaths for ELECTED STATE OFFICIALS and APPOINTED STATE OFFICIALS. Any other public officials required by law to execute such oaths, would be recorded, and filed with their respective county or municipal offices.  Click here for more information.

Registration - Successor in Interest

Individuals or entities claiming commercial rights to a deceased personality’s name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness under 12 O.S. § 1448 can file an official Registration of Claim of Rights as Successor-in-Interest with our office. Click here to visit our dedicated Successor-in-Interest page to view instructions, access the filing form, or request copies of existing records.

OK VINE System and Registration

The Uniform Interstate Enforcement of Domestic Violence Protection Orders Act provides a service for submitting Foreign Protection Orders to the state for registration into the OK VINE System (Victim Information and Notification Everyday), 22 O.S. 60.25.  For more information about this victim alert system please click here

Interlocal Cooperation Agreements

The Interlocal Cooperation Act (74 O.S. § 1001 et seq.) allows public agencies in Oklahoma—such as cities, counties, school districts, and state agencies—to work together and share resources to provide services more efficiently to the public. Additionally, under Oklahoma Statutes Title 69, Section 601, county commissioners are specifically authorized to enter into cooperative agreements with other local governments to build, repair, or maintain roads, bridges, and related infrastructure. As the central record repository, our agency files and maintains copies of these interlocal agreements. Please click here for more information.

Open Records Requests

If the record(s) you seek is a non-routine administrative file that cannot be obtained online or via a standard Secretary of State Copy Order Request, you may submit a formal request to our Open Records Act Request Coordinator. While document inspection is free, requests requiring extensive staff research or those submitted for commercial purposes may be subject to statutory search and reproduction fees under Oklahoma law.  Click here for more information and to download the SOS Open Records Act Request form.
