Town of Allen Receives $89,443 Grant for System Improvements from the OWRB
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Town of Allen (Town) received approval for $89,443 in funding on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Town’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water and wastewater systems will be financed by the OWRB American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program.
The Town operates both a water and wastewater system. To increase the reliability of their infrastructure, the Town has recently invested in new water meters, water well pumps, and a new sewer pump at the main lift station, as well as a new fire hydrant and all appurtenances required to complete these projects.
The approved funding will be used to reimburse the Town for eligible costs related to these improvements, in an amount not to exceed $89,443.37, funded by an OWRB ARPA Grant of $89,443.37
Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the Town’s customers will save an estimated $160,700.00 compared to traditional financing.
"I’m pleased the OSG Grant for the Town of Allen has been approved. I’m grateful for this funding, which will help reimburse important updates to the town’s water and wastewater system. These improvements keep the system reliable and safe for our community,” said Rep. Ronny Johns, R-Ada.
“We are grateful to State Senator Jonathan Wingard and State Representative Ronny Johns for their continued support of our financial assistance programs,” said Julie Cunningham, Executive Director of the OWRB.
The ARPA grant program is administered by the OWRB with funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and appropriated through the American Rescue Plan Act grants program. This OWRB program has been structured to provide communities and other eligible entities with the financial resources necessary to address water and wastewater infrastructure needs within their systems.
Since 1983 the Water Resources Board has approved over $8.6 billion in loans and grants for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements throughout Oklahoma.
