Tentative Board Order for the Maximum Annual Yield Determination for the Beaver-North Canadian River Alluvium and Terrace Groundwater Basin, Reaches I-II
On July 15, a tentative order was approved that establishes the 20-year updated maximum annual yield for Reaches I and II of the Beaver-North Canadian River groundwater basin. Two public hearings will be held for any interested party to attend the hearing and present evidence or comment in response to, in support of, or opposition to the tentative findings. The Reach I public hearing will be held on September 11, 2025, at the High Plains Technology Center in Woodward County. The Reach II public hearing will be held on October 23, 2025, at the Roman Nose State Park Lodge. Both hearings will begin at 4 p.m.

As the state's designated water management agency, the OWRB appropriates stream water and groundwater through water use permitting. Permits must be obtained from the OWRB for all uses of water in Oklahoma except domestic use.
Beneficial use of water is a fundamental requirement in the administration of water rights. Beneficial uses include agriculture, irrigation, water supply, hydroelectric power generation, municipal, industrial, navigation, recreation, and fish and wildlife propagation.
