Environmental Stewardship

Since its inception in 1935, the Commission has voiced the need for sound oil and natural gas environmental policy. Member states continuously seek new and innovative techniques to produce these much-needed resources without compromising our environment. The Commission also serves as a forum for state regulators to share their ideas and viewpoints to strengthen state programs that oversee oil and natural gas production.

Additionally, in 1995, the Commission initiated the annual Chairman's Stewardship Awards, which represent the nation's highest honor for exemplary efforts in environmental stewardship. The awards recognize achievement and challenge organizations, companies, and individuals nationwide to demonstrate innovation, dedication, and passion for our environment.

You may apply on your behalf or nominate another project. Past winners are encouraged to apply with new projects. If you have applied in the past and received honorable mention, and you feel your project has been enhanced, we encourage you to resubmit your project.
