Child Care, Schools, Colleges, Universities and Group Housing
Schools play a critical role in protecting the health of their students, staff, and the community from contagious diseases. On this page, you will find more information on preventing the flu, as well as, materials for schools.
Ask children, parents, and staff to:
- Cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze—have them throw the tissue away after use and wash their hands. If a tissue is not available, have them cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve, not their hand.
- Wash their hands often with soap and water, especially immediately after they cough or sneeze. If water is not near, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Stay home when sick.
