Wednesday, June 04, 2025

Grants to support youth leadership, wellness programs and tobacco prevention.

The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Board of Directors awarded six TSET Discovery Grants totaling nearly $3.8 million to support innovative health programs across Oklahoma. The grants, awarded at the board’s May meeting, will fund projects that improve youth wellness, expand access to healthy food and physical activity and reduce exposure to tobacco.

Three of the six recipients are youth services organizations that will expand access to health education, wellness activities and youth leadership opportunities in both urban and rural areas. Other grantees include Activate Oklahoma Inc., the American Lung Association and Tahlequah Public Schools.

Funded projects will expand access to healthy foods, promote physical activity and protect children from the harms of tobacco exposure.

“We were pleased with the strong interest in this opportunity,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. “Our reviewers carefully considered each application, and the selected projects represent innovative strategies that promote wellness for youth and adults statewide.”
