TSET Board of Directors Award $280,000 in Healthy Incentive Grants to Eight Communities

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 6, 2024) – The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Board of Directors awarded grants totaling $280,000 to eight cities across Oklahoma.

TSET Healthy Incentive Grants focus on improving the health and quality of life for all Oklahomans by reducing risk factors for heart disease, stroke and cancer. To be eligible, communities must first adopt policies encouraging tobacco-free environments, access to healthy and nutritious foods and opportunities for physical activity.

These eight communities were awarded TSET Healthy Incentive Grants because of their commitment to implementing policies and practices that support health.

Grant funds can be used for various projects that promote healthy and active living. Previous awards have been used for walking trails, pickleball courts, splash pads, farmers market venues, outdoor playgrounds and exercise equipment. 

“Communities are key to improving health and quality of life in Oklahoma, and we know access to parks and other amenities that promote physical activity for all ages is an important step in creating a healthier Oklahoma,” said TSET Executive Director Julie Bisbee. “Healthy Incentive Grants are one of many ways TSET supports cities and towns across Oklahoma promoting health and wellness opportunities for all generations.

The next application period for TSET Healthy Incentive Grants for communities will be in September.
